I specialize in sports, auto accident and work related injuries and in providing the appropriate physical therapy and rehabilitation for each type of injury. I became a licensed Physical Therapist in 1982 and Doctor of Chiropractic in 1993.
I grew up in Marin County, graduating from Terra Linda High School. After doing much of my undergraduate work at U. C. Davis, I graduated from Long Beach State's Physical Therapy school and practiced in Newport Beach in a large comprehensive orthopedic and sports facility. In 1984, I was fortunate to be chosen for the Los Angeles Summer Olympic medical staff, where I was able to sharpen my skills with elite athletes.
"I first came to see Dr. Kakleas after being recommended by a friend who was already a patient. I have a chronic neck problem resulting from two whiplash accidents in motor vehicles several years ago. Dr Kakleas has provided me with excellent care resulting in the immediate relief of my recurring neck pain. Additionally, he has provided an assortment of stretches and strength building exercises to control my problem on a long term basis. I highly recommend Dr. Kakleas to anyone needing relief of acute and/or chronic pain. "

I continued to gain experience as a physical therapist for the next several years and decided to add chiropractic training in order to comprehensively treat my patients. Upon completion of chiropractic school, I was able to offer my patients both the benefits of specific spinal and extraarticular (arms and legs) adjustments and the integrated activity of exercise, muscle rehabilitation and re-education, good body mechanics, and proper posture.
I interned and subsequently became a treating doctor at Athens Chiropractic Clinic in Redwood City under one of the top sports chiropractors in the country, Dr. Nick Athens. I had the opportunity to continue working with athletes from the San Francisco 49rs and Giants and San Jose Sharks, as well as treating individuals from as young as 2 years old to 82 years young.
In 1997, I moved back to Marin and opened my own practice in North San Rafael. Because I offer both chiropractic and physical therapy treatment, I am able to receive an individual with nerve, muscle or spine injury, help alleviate the pain quickly by spinal adjustment and progress him/her into muscle rehabilitation and re-education in the same facility. I have found that this can eliminate the bothersome process of referrals to two or more additional health care professionals, as well as multiple billing sources, various care facilities all around town, and potential interoffice communication problems.
Since returning to the San Rafael/Terra Linda community, I have become the chiropractor and physical therapist for Terra Linda High School's athletic program.
I work with my patients to develop a comprehensive program to assist them in maintaining optimum health. I strongly believe that health is not a matter of chance; it's a matter of choice.
